What Is An Adoption Plan?

What Is An Adoption Plan?

If you are unexpectedly pregnant, you might wonder what it looks like to make an adoption plan. An adoption plan might feel a little overwhelming at first, especially if you have never made an adoption plan before. As you walk through your options, it’s important to have support throughout your journey.

Getting Started

Some women might be hesitant to reach out to an adoption agency. It can feel overwhelming and difficult to know how to talk through these circumstances. Some women want to learn about their options from an adoption agency before they even tell anyone else they are pregnant.  It’s important for every woman to know that contacting our team is confidential, and there is never any obligation to choose adoption. If you have questions about the process, sending a quick text to our team at (754) 666-2973 is the best way to get in touch. Reaching out to an adoption agency is simply the first step, and starting that conversation doesn’t require any type of commitment from the birth mother.

The Adoption Process

There are a lot of decisions involved in this process, but no birth mother has to make these decisions alone. It’s important to have reliable support throughout this experience so that you can make the best decisions possible for both you and your unborn child. An adoption agency will walk you through the birth father’s rights, covered costs, counseling support, legal information, open vs closed adoption, and more. As the birth mother, it’s normal to have a lot of questions throughout the process. Your situation is unique, and your adoption plan can be tailored to your specific circumstances. Some women also find it helpful to read stories from birth mothers who have already been through this process.

Choosing an Adoptive Family

Most birth mothers want to select the adoptive family for their unborn child. A lot of women have a specific type of family in mind, and it’s important to consider what each birth mother feels comfortable with. Do you prefer the child to grow up with other siblings? What kind of family values are important to you? Are there certain adoptive families that stand out to you? Our team has already interviewed multiple families who might be the perfect fit for your situation. If you do not wish to choose the adoptive family yourself, our team can also select the family for you. As a birth mother, you can make whichever decisions you feel most comfortable with.

Our mission is to provide competent and compassionate adoption services to birth parents and children needing a forever family. We want to hear your story and help you make the best decision possible for both you and your unborn child. If you’d like to get in touch with us to learn more, choose your preferred way to contact us here.

Official Statement from
Adoption by Shepherd Care

It has come to our attention that the Hulu series Good American Family contains inaccurate information regarding Adoption by Shepherd Care (ASC) and the adoption of Natalia. We would like to take this opportunity to clarify the facts.

Contrary to what is presented in the documentary, ASC did not initiate any communication or have any involvement with Mr. or Mrs. Barnett in connection to Natalia’s adoption. The legal adoption process for Natalia was completed in the state of New Hampshire, where the original adoptive family resided, and was facilitated through a New Hampshire-based agency—not Adoption by Shepherd Care.

For those seeking further clarification, we encourage you to watch The Curious Case of Natalia Grace, Season 2, Episode 1, which clearly states that Adoption by Shepherd Care was not the agency responsible for facilitating this adoption.

We want to express our respect for all agencies and professionals engaged in this vital work. However, it is essential that accurate information is shared with the public and that the correct entities are acknowledged for their role in any adoption process.

At Adoption by Shepherd Care, we remain steadfast in our mission to place children in safe, loving, and permanent homes. We uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethical practice, and compassion for the children and families we serve.

We respectfully request that the media and members of the public refrain from further spreading misinformation related to this matter. While we understand the interest in this case, we also urge respect for the privacy and dignity of all individuals involved. Adoption is a deeply personal and emotional journey that must be approached with sensitivity and integrity.

Adoption by Shepherd Care will continue its unwavering commitment to finding loving and permanent placements for children, guided by the principles of honesty, compassion, and respect.
